Maya's Mom is now live!
Our little startup is now out in the world, it's a pretty exciting and nervous day. Maya's Mom is a place for parents to find and share information with each other.
After 6 months of development it's great to see everything finally come together and launch. There is still so much more to do, so really just the beginning of the beginning but fun and exciting so far, even with the many long days (and nights).
Since I'm in charge of the technology and sometimes post about it, the technology details: it is pretty straight forward LAMP stuff. Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP+Smarty templates. We're also using Lucene for search which has impressed me for how powerful and flexible it is. We are hiring for a few positions, so let me know if you've got the skillz.
Even though we are using a lot of newer technology tools and features, such as ajax, dhtml, tags, rss, etc. We aren't really a technology company, but a company that utilizes technology to help parents. So check out the site, let us know what you think.
For a small company there are a lot of people to thank. Thanks especially to Ann, the founder, without her I would be vacationing in Italy right now, thanks Ann! :) Thanks to Yael for product, Kathryn and Jesse for making sure we have content. Plus our team of part-timers Domenique, Veronica and Dave for the beautiful design, Evan for search, Nori for behind the scenes and to all the advisors for guidance and great ideas.
We've got a lot of exciting stuff in store. Stay tuned.
